The 5th Regiment was a 3 month enlistment. Organized at Camp Curtin, Harrisburg, April 20, 1861. Moved to Philadelphia April 22, then to Perryville and Annapolis, Md., April 23, then onto Washington, D.C., April 27. Went to Alexandria, Va., May 28, then moved to Shutter's Hill June 3. Attached to McDowell's Army of Northeast Virginia. Duty at Alexandria till muster out. Mustered out July 25, 1861 |

The 6th Regiment was a 3 month enlistment. 7 out of the 10 Companies were recruited in Schuylkill County with the other three in Carbon County. Organized at Harrisburg April 22, 1861.
Moved to Philadelphia April 22, and saw duty there till May 7. Duty along Pittsburg, Wilmington & Baltimore Railroad May 7-28.
Moved to Chambersburg May 28. Attached to George H. Thomas' Brigade, 1st Division, Patterson's Army.
March to Greencastle June 6. Cross Potomac and advance on Martinsburg Road June 15. At Williamsport, MD June 16-24. Occupation of Martinsburg July 3. Advance on Bunker Hill July 15. Moved to Charleston July 17.
Mustered out July 27, 1861.

The 16th Regiment was a 3 month enlistment except for Co. "C" which mustered for three years.
Moved to York, Pa., May 9, and duty there until move to Chambersburg June 3. Sent to Williamsport, MD June 16 and attached to 4th Brigade, Cadwalader's 1st Division, Patterson's Army. At Williamsport June 16-July 2. Part of the occupation of Martinsburg, WV July 3. Advanced on Bunker Hill July 15, then at Charlestown July 17.
