 Minersville.Word received Oct. 27, 1943, that he was killed in action and buried at sea.

BASSININSKY, PVT. PETER, of Llewellyn, aged 18, son of Andrew and Kathryn Bassininsky, Llewellyn,

 killed in action in France, February 6, 1945.

BILUNAS, S 2/C JOSEPH V., of Minersville, son of Mrs. Mary Bilunas, 401 St. Francis St., died at the Naval Hospital,

 Norfolk, Va., January 22, 1945, of injuries.

BOKAN, S/SGT. JOHN R., son of late John and Tillie Bokan, 519 S. Third St., Minersville, died of wounds in Aleutians.

BOYCHALK, SEAMAN THOS. W., son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Boychalk, Primrose, killed in naval action,

August 24, 1942.  Was in submarine service.

BONCHALK, PVT. ANTHONY, son of the late Stephen and Sophie Bonchalk, Forrestville, killed in France,

Sept. 20, 1944.

BRENNAN, LT. EDMUND "TED", son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brennan, Branchdale, previously reported missing in

action over Germany, reported to have beenkilled in action on April 12, 1944.  Information revealed by German Govt.

 through International Red Cross.

BRENNAN, PFC. RAYMOND R., 24, of Minersville, killed in train wreck, Aug. 9, 1945, at

Michigan, N.D., while enroute from Georgia to Washington State. Son of Mrs. Dorothy and

the late James Brennan, Minersville.

BROWN, PVT. MELVIN G., Phila., formerly of Minersville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Brown,

died of malaria in Philippines, May 17, 1942.

CANTWELL, PFC. JAMES J., of Jonestown, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Cantwell, Sr., died

of wounds in Belgium, January 1, 1945.

CIVATARESE, PFC. LOUIS, son of Mrs. Mary Civatarese, Jonestown, killed in France,

July 15, 1944.

CLAUSER, Lt. LEONARD N., son of Mrs. Esther Clauser, formerly of Branchdale, later of

Millbourne, killed in action over Austria, Aug. 22, 1944.

CONVILLE, Pvt. JEROME J., of Pine Knot, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Conville, killed in

action January 15, 1945, at Luxembourg.

Marine Hospital at San Francisco, Calif., January 21, 1944.  In Merchant Marine.

 November 20, 1944.

in action in France on June 6, 1944.

DOBRZYN, PFC. STANLEY, 28, of Brady, died of wounds on Okinawa, June 19, 1945. Married to former

Apr. 25, 1945 on Luzon.

FEIGENBAUM, SGT. MELVIN, Branchdale, husband of Claire Brennan, R.N., of Branchdale, killed in first flight over

English Channel August 16, 1943

FIDLER, CPL. WM., son of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Fidler, and husband of Jennie Truscott, Minersville,

reported missing in action on June 6, 1944, later reported killed.

GOBA, SEAMAN 1/C ALGERT, formerly of Minersville, son of Mary and the late Alex Goba, now living in Mass.

 Word received July 15, 1943 that he was killed in action.

GOBER, PVT. VICTOR J., son of Mrs. Nellie Gober, and husband of Mrs. Beatrice Gober, 232 Oak St., Minersville,

 who formerly was reported wounded in action in France on December 5, 1944, died of wounds on that date.

GOTTSCHALL, HERBERT WM., sailor, Minersville, husband of the former Jeanette Christine Ramsay,

died at Monogram Field, Va., according to word received January 11, 1945.

GRACE, T/5 THOMAS A., son of Mrs. Ellen and the late Pierce Grace, Glen Carbon, killed in vehicle accident in

North Africa on July 11, 1944.

GUTZWA, 1/SGT. JOSEPH G., son of Mrs. Anna and the late John Gutzwa, Minersville, died in action following

fall of Corregidor, July 23, 1942, while prisoner of Japs, result of cerebral malaria.

HEFFRON, PFC. FRANCIS C., Heckscherville, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Heffron, listed as killed over

Denmark, December 17, 1944.

HONES, CPL. JOSEPH, son of Peter Hones, Minersville, killed in auto accident at Camp Campbell, Ky.,

October 12, 1943.

HONNAGE, T/5 GEORGE, 32, of Primrose, son of John and Eva Honnage, formerly reported missing on

November 21, 1944,killed in action on that date.

 August 3, 1943.  September 1st reported killed in action

missing in action July 16, 1943.  Officially listed as dead August 10, 1943.

KIMMEL, WM. I., son of Charles Kimmel, Minersville, killed in action in Naples, Italy.  Word received

October 30, 1943.

missing October 14, 1944.

 February 4, 1944.

LINDER, PFC. EARL F., Pottsville, R.D. 3, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Linder, killed March 8, 1945 at Iwo Jima.

LONG, PVT. MILTON B., Pottsville, son of Mrs. Elizabeth Long, formerly of 319 Minersville St., killed in bomber

 crash at Casper, Wyo., January 18, 1945.

MATLESKA, MICHAEL AMM 3/C, Duncott, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Matleska, killed by a truck near his home on

February 6, 1945, as he came home on leave.

MATULIS, ELMER, son of Mrs. Mary Matulis, 227 Oak St., Minersville, killed in plane crash.

Word received May 2, 1943. Body recovered May 27, 1943.  He was a radioman and a bombadier.

of country, according to word received January 29, 1945.

MEREDITH, HOWARD L., adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sharpe, Primrose, word received

 November 23, 1942 that he was killed in actionat Guadalcanal.

November 8, 1944.

 listed as having died March 19, 1945 when USS Ben Franklin CV-13 aircraft carrier was hit by Jap planes.

NAMOTKIEWICZ, WT 3/C VINCENT, Minersville, son of Stanley Namotkiewicz, Pine Hill St., is listed as dead,

August 1945,after being missing aboard a ship in the Pacific.

April 11, 1943.

 killed in naval action on submarine, August 24, 1942.

POPOVICH, CPL. GEORGE, son of Mrs. Eliz. and the late Michael Popovich, Branchdale, killed in France on

September 8, 1944.

POTTS, JOHN, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Potts, Primrose, lost off Iceland when Coast Guard cutter,

 Alexander Hamilton, was sunk, February 18, 1942.

after being reported missing Christmas Day, 1944, in European area.  Word received in March 1945.
